The words LORAX uses

Short definitions, in the order you're likely to meet them. Every term links to the page that explains it in full.

AI companion
An app character you talk to over time, built to hold a relationship rather than answer questions. An AI girlfriend or AI boyfriend app is a companion app with a romantic framing.
Closed cast
LORAX's more than 250 characters. You don't pick them from a catalog; you meet them through live streams, introductions from someone you know, or by using credits to meet someone. Two are open when you start. More
Texts first
A conversation started by the character, not you. In LORAX the first message after sign-up arrives within a couple of minutes, and each character has a small daily budget of starts. More
Sleep schedule
Each character has a sleep window in her own time zone. Messages sent while she sleeps are delivered but not read until she wakes.
Read receipt
The ticks under a message: sent, delivered, read. In LORAX the read tick lands at the exact moment the character reacts, not on a timer.
Memory layers
Three of them: who you are (profile facts), what happened between you (episodes), and the detail inside those episodes, fetched only when it fits. More
Episode
A stored moment from your history with a character, kept as a headline she can recall, with the detail behind it available when relevant.
Recall
The step where a character goes back for the detail of an episode. If nothing is found, she says she doesn't remember instead of inventing it.
Forget
A per-character reset: transcript, media and memory are wiped, the relationship restarts, and a new first contact is scheduled.
Daily allowance
The number of replies a free account gets per day. When it runs out the conversation continues at a slower pace until it resets. Premium raises it. More
Credits
The in-app currency for one-off things: opening a photo, meeting someone new, live-stream gifts, creating a character, speeding up replies. Bought credits don't expire.
LORAX Premium
The optional monthly subscription ($29.99 in the US): a monthly credit allowance, a higher daily allowance, more stream time, character slots, and the privacy pack.
Live stream
You broadcast, a crowd arrives, the chat scrolls, gifts and follows come in. Characters you haven't met watch and may message you afterwards. More
Discovery message
A private message from a character who watched your stream, sent hours later on her own terms. One of the three ways to meet someone new.
Group chat
A room with you and up to four characters who talk to each other. It keeps moving when you're gone and slows the longer you stay away. More
Bond
A written relationship between two characters in the cast: friendship, grudge, history. There are 25 of them, and they shape what characters say about each other.
Mood
A two-axis state, roughly how good she feels and how keyed up she is, that decays over a few hours and changes how she writes.
Stage
Where the relationship stands: acquaintance, flirting, close. It moves from behavior over days, is capped below certain, and never moves backward. More
Between Us
A page in the app showing a character's current mood, a line of what she's thinking, and where things stand between you.
Simulation and Fun
Two worlds under one account, each with its own memory and relationships. Simulation is slow and realistic; Fun is lighter and quicker.
Care notice
A card the app shows in a chat when a message suggests you may be at risk of hurting yourself, with a button to a helpline. More
Fiction notice
The plain statement that everyone in LORAX is an AI-generated character, shown at sign-up and on this site. More
