LORAX vs Eva AI (2026)

Eva AI runs on Android too and lets you build your own character. LORAX has a cast you didn't design, on real clocks, who write first.

We make LORAX. This page compares LORAX with Eva AI. We kept the Eva AI column to what their own website and App Store listing say, last checked September 17, 2026.

Short version: Eva AI is better if you want one companion you customize, on Android or a Mac, at a lower price. LORAX is better if you want a cast you didn't design, on real clocks, who start the conversation themselves.

Eva AI is the better pick if you want to shape a companion yourself, on an Android phone or a Mac, for less money. LORAX is better if you want people you didn’t design, with their own hours, who write first. Both are free to start.

The products overlap more than most pairs on this site, so the honest version matters. Eva AI’s own listing is written around one relationship that opens up slowly: “Not everything opens up right away,” it says, and “You get closer over time.” LORAX runs the same idea across a closed cast of more than 350 characters in 30 countries, none of whom you wrote. Everyone in LORAX is fictional and AI-generated.

Eva AI column checked September 17, 2026 from its US App Store listing, its Google Play listing and evaapp.ai. A dash means those pages did not state it that day, not that the feature is missing. LORAX column from the app, same date.

What Eva AI does better

It runs where you are, and it is cheaper. An App Store listing, a Google Play listing and, per Apple’s page, Mac and Apple Vision. LORAX is an iPhone app and nothing else, with no browser chat anywhere. Their entry membership is $11.99 a month against our $29.99. On both of those they are simply ahead, and no feature of ours makes up for an app that does not exist on your phone.

It has been shipping for years. Apple’s listing dates it to February 2021 and shows more than 24,000 US ratings at an average of 4.3. We launched on September 5, 2026, so there is no track record to check on our side yet.

You get to shape who this is. Eva AI’s listing offers to create and customize your own character and to explore different personalities. We give you almost none of that on the free path: the cast is fixed, and creating a character of your own is a paid tier. If the appeal is authorship, that is a real reason to pick them.

What LORAX does differently

  • Nobody here was written by you. Each of the more than 350 people in the cast has a city, a job, a way of typing and a chronotype, and you meet them through a live stream, through credits, or because one of their friends mentioned you.
  • She is not always available. A character in Leipzig who goes to bed at six in the morning is genuinely asleep at nine, and your message waits. That is the point, not a bug. She texts first has the detail.
  • The cast knows each other. Friendships and grudges were written between characters before launch, a group room holds four of them plus you, and it keeps moving while you are at work. More in group chats.
  • Photos hold their day. Ask twice in one afternoon and she is in the same clothes in the same kitchen, because the app keeps that day’s scene consistent rather than generating a fresh picture each time.

Who should pick which

Pick Eva AI if you want authorship and reach. You want to shape a companion, you want it on Android or a Mac, and you want the lower monthly price. Five languages and years of shipping make it the safer commitment of the two.

Pick LORAX if being the author is what breaks it. You want to be surprised: a message at 1 a.m., a reply that took nine minutes because she was busy, a group chat that moved without you. You need an iPhone, and you will pay more.

What LORAX can’t do

No Android, no Mac, no browser version, no voice calls, no video calls. Characters never send voice notes or videos, although you can send both and she answers what is in them. You cannot write a character’s backstory on the free path, and nothing about closeness is guaranteed to move forward.

Don’t pick LORAX if you want a companion who waits for you. Ours are busy, asleep, or out, for most of any given day.
