Comparison

LORAX vs PolyBuzz (2026)

PolyBuzz has a huge character catalogue in 28 languages, on any device. LORAX has a closed cast on real clocks who write to you first.

We make LORAX. This page compares LORAX with PolyBuzz. We kept the PolyBuzz column to what their own website and App Store listing say, last checked September 17, 2026.

Short version: PolyBuzz is better if you want a huge catalogue of user-written story characters, on any device, in 28 languages. LORAX is better if you want a small cast on real clocks who start the conversation and keep going without you.

PolyBuzz is the better pick if you want a catalogue, any device, or a lower price. LORAX is better if you want a few people with their own hours who write to you without being opened. Both are free to start.

They are not really the same kind of product. PolyBuzz is a library of scenarios: its front page is a grid of user-written characters with follower counts and tags like Anime, Webtoon, Mafia and Secret Crush, and its App Store listing says “Character creation now open to everyone!” LORAX is a closed cast of more than 350 characters in 30 countries that you cannot browse to and did not write. Everyone in LORAX is fictional and AI-generated.

What PolyBuzz does better

Choice, at a scale we are not trying to match. Their front page alone shows characters with follower counts in the millions, across tags from Webtoon and Anime to Mafia, Horror and Sci-Fi, and anybody can add another one. If what you want is a different story every night — a bodyguard on Monday, a rival on Tuesday — LORAX is the wrong shape and PolyBuzz is built exactly for it.

It runs everywhere and it costs less. An App Store listing, a Google Play listing and a browser app mean PolyBuzz works on whatever you are holding. LORAX has no Android build and no web chat at all. Their Standard plan is $9.90 a month against our $29.99, and their listing says conversations are free to explore. On price and reach they are ahead, plainly.

Languages, by a nose. Apple counts 28 on their listing and 24 on ours. We write each of ours rather than translating, which we think shows, but 28 is 28.

What LORAX does differently

  • Nobody is sitting on a page waiting to be opened. The cast is closed. Somebody watches your live stream and messages you hours later, or a character you already know mentions a friend and that friend writes a few days on. The first move is always hers.
  • The clock is real. A character in Leipzig who goes to bed at six in the morning is genuinely unavailable at nine, and a message you send then is delivered and sits unread until she wakes. She texts first explains how that gets decided.
  • The room keeps going without you. Four characters and you in a group, talking to each other about their day and about you, still moving while you are at work. You don’t set it up. More in group chats.
  • Photos belong to a day, not to a prompt. Ask where she is and the picture is that room; ask again that afternoon and the clothes match, because the same local day pulls the same scene forward.

Who should pick which

Pick PolyBuzz if you want a catalogue and a low bill. You want thousands of scenarios written by other people, you want to publish your own, and you want it on an Android phone or a laptop. That is a reasonable set of priorities and their product is built for it.

Pick LORAX if being handed a menu is what breaks the feeling. You want to be contacted rather than to open a page, you want a reply that is late because she was on a shift, and you would rather be turned down occasionally than always accommodated. You need an iPhone and you will pay more.

What LORAX can’t do

No Android, no web chat, no voice calls, no video calls. Characters never send voice notes or videos, though you can send both and she answers what is actually in them. You cannot browse to anybody, and nothing about closeness is guaranteed to move forward.

Don’t pick LORAX if you want a companion who waits for you. Ours have jobs and sleep hours, and for most of any given day they are busy or asleep.

If that trade appeals, read how LORAX works first, then the pricing page so you know what is free before you spend anything.
