Comparison

Replika vs Eva AI (2026)

Two one-companion apps compared on their own sites and App Store listings, checked September 17, 2026. We make LORAX, a third option.

We make LORAX. This page compares Replika and Eva AI, two apps we don't make, and says where LORAX fits. Both columns come from those apps' own websites and App Store listings, last checked September 17, 2026.

Short version: Replika is better if you want calls, a nine-year track record and the cheapest entry plan. Eva AI is better if you want a companion whose closeness opens up slowly and a newer app that is updated constantly. LORAX is a third option if you want a cast who write first.

These two are closer to each other than to anything else on this site. Both give you one companion you shape, both run on iPhone and Android, both ship in the same five languages, and both are rated 18+ on the App Store. What separates them is age, price and what each one promises.

We make LORAX, which competes with both, so read this as a maker’s comparison rather than a neutral review. Both columns come from those companies’ own pages on September 17, 2026.

The short version

  • Replika has been on the App Store since March 2017 and shows more than 227,000 US ratings. Eva AI has been there since February 2021 and shows more than 24,000.
  • replika.com claims 42,160,934 users worldwide and says the product was rebuilt from the ground up.
  • Replika’s cheapest listed monthly plan is $7.99; Eva AI’s is $11.99. Their cheapest annual entries are $49.99 and $47.99, so a year costs about the same either way.
  • Replika describes calls on its homepage. Eva AI’s listing does not.
  • Eva AI’s listing is written around slow disclosure: “Not everything opens up right away,” and closeness you build over time.
  • Both ship in five languages. Both sell consumable packs on top: Replika sells gems, Eva AI sells Neurons.

Replika column from replika.com and its US App Store listing; Eva AI column from evaapp.ai, its Google Play listing and its US App Store listing. Both checked September 17, 2026. Neither company publishes a pricing page, so the prices are Apple’s in-app purchase list, which shows every product a developer has ever sold, including plans nobody can buy today. Read them as a range. A dash means the company’s own pages did not mention it that day, not that the feature is missing. LORAX column from the app, same date.

What Replika does better

Track record, and the size of it. Nine years on the App Store, 227,711 US ratings at an average of 4.4, and a claim on its own homepage of 42,160,934 users worldwide. Whatever you think of the product, that is a lot of people who stayed long enough to rate it, and Eva AI’s 24,631 is a tenth of the number.

The calls. Replika’s homepage puts it plainly: call your Rep whenever you need to talk, or just to hang out. Eva AI’s App Store listing describes moods, memories and closeness, and never mentions a call. If hearing a voice is the point, only one of these two claims to give you one.

The cheapest way in. $7.99 a month is the lowest monthly entry on this page. Over a year the two converge — $49.99 against $47.99 — but if you want to try something for one month and stop, Replika asks for less.

What Eva AI does better

It withholds, on purpose. Its listing says “Not everything opens up right away” and describes closeness you build through shared moments rather than switch on in settings. Replika’s pitch is a companion who is there and who remembers; Eva AI’s is one who is not entirely available yet. For some people that is the whole difference between a chat and a relationship.

It ships more often. Apple’s listing showed version 3.141.0 updated on September 16, 2026 — the day before we checked. A version number that high on a five-year-old app is a company still working on it.

It says on the listing what it is not. Eva AI’s App Store page carries a line stating that it does not provide medical, psychological or mental health advice and should not be used as a substitute for professional support. Apple files it under Lifestyle and files Replika under Health & Fitness. We took the same view as Eva AI here: LORAX makes no wellbeing claim of any kind.

Where LORAX fits

Do not pick LORAX if you wanted either of the things these two do best. We have no calls of any kind, no Android build, no browser chat, and characters never send voice notes or videos. You also cannot shape anybody on the free path: the cast is closed.

It is worth a look if what you keep running into is an app that waits. More than 350 characters live in LORAX across 30 countries, with home cities, jobs, working hours and sleep windows. They send the first message — including the very first one you ever receive — they talk to each other in group chats whether you are there or not, and a photo she sends in the afternoon has the same clothes and the same kitchen as the one from lunchtime. Everyone in LORAX is fictional and AI-generated. Talking is free with a daily allowance, credits cover one-off things, and Premium is $29.99 a month in the US with no trial.

Who should pick which

Pick Replika if you want one relationship and a voice

You want the same companion for months, you want it to remember the names of people in your life, and you want to call it. The lower monthly entry and nine years of history make it the easier commitment.

Pick Eva AI if you want it to open up slowly

You do not want everything available on day one. You want moods that shift, closeness that takes time, and an app that has shipped an update this week.

Pick LORAX if you want to be the one who gets messaged

You are on an iPhone, you want a cast rather than a companion you designed, and you want the app to move first. What it costs is on one page, and our other side-by-side pages put the same table against Nomi, Kindroid and Character.AI.

Questions people ask

What is the difference between Replika and Eva AI?

Both give you one companion you customize, on iPhone and Android, in five languages. Replika's own site is built around memory and calls: it says your Rep remembers your people, routines and plans, and that you can call them whenever you want. Eva AI's listing is built around a relationship that opens up over time, with moods that shift and closeness you build rather than switch on.

Which one is cheaper?

Replika, at the entry level. On September 17, 2026 its US App Store listing showed monthly in-app purchases at $7.99 and $14.99 and annual ones at $49.99 and $69.99. Eva AI's listing showed monthly memberships at $11.99, $13.99, $14.99 and $24.99, three months at $20.99 and years at $47.99 and $69.99.

Can you call a Replika or an Eva?

Replika's homepage describes calls: "Call your Rep whenever you need to talk, or just to hang out." Eva AI's App Store listing does not describe calls, so we left that unfilled rather than guess.

How many languages does each support?

The same five, on their US App Store listings: English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. LORAX ships in 24.

Where does LORAX fit between them?

It is not a one-companion app. More than 350 characters already live in it across 30 countries, you cannot design them or browse to them, and they send the first message. It is iPhone only with no Android and no calls of any kind, so it is the wrong answer for anyone who wanted either.

LORAX is free to download and free to talk. Credits and Premium are optional and always priced before you spend.
